The grandchildren helped her with her patch for they removed the worms from the leaves, tied leaves and hung on fence to dry- twisted leaves and cut to chew. Mary was living with her son Jim in Detroit, AL when she died in 1934. The granddaughter remembered the neighbor women came and prepared her body for burial. They made her a new dress which opened down the front and had gray buttons and ruffles either side of the buttons. The men made a casket that had hinges on either side. The casket was removed from the home and taken to the church in a flat bed truck with the men sitting on either side of the truck. The casket was left open all the way to the funeral @ Primitive Baptist Church @Liberty Grove, MS..
